Carefree Electric Awning Will Not Extend
Hi everyone we decided to go camping for spring break again.
Carefree electric awning will not extend. We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website. Our powered 12v or 110v awnings will open and close with just the push of a button. Awning will not extend. If we push the retract button it makes a little sound like a soft thunk.
Sadly our awning is not working and i don t know how to troubleshoot it. Automatic retractable awnings will use electric sensors to know when to extend or retract the awning. At least in our motorhome this is the case. These tend to go out quite often and will need replacing. D we had the trailer out a few weeks ago and it worked fine. I checked the fuse answered by a verified rv mechanic.
If we push the button to extend the awning nothing happens no noise or anything. That s the standard behavior i have seen in most cases. If this happens and it does happen to rain it will likely stretch the canvas and make it difficult for you to now retract the awning.

If you have an awning with an electric sensor you can expect to have to use the manual retraction lever on it anytime the sensor is acting finicky or whenever the power goes out.
