Can You Paint A Plastic Utility Sink
Since i already had a plastic laundry tub that worked fine i wasn t going to get a new one.
Can you paint a plastic utility sink. Allow the paint to dry for three days. The instructions say it can be rolled brushed or sprayed. I chose a 4 mini roller and a 1 foam brush to get the corners. You d need to completely cover surfaces other than the sink where paint droplets might.
Before you begin be prepared to be without a sink for a time. The washington post recommends using krylon fusion for plastic and rust oleum paint for plastic. Krylon and rust oleum sell their plastic paints only in spray cans so dealing with overspray is critical. Mix the 2 part epoxy paint together following instructions.
The paint is much thinner than i expected it to be. You can do a diy fiberglass sink or tub on a budget. Wear gloves and a mask and be sure to ventilate the room. Remove all fixtures and tape up the area.
But i thought adding a little interest to it with some spray paint that works on plastic would be a nice touch. First you need to clean it thoroughly. I am happy to announce to you right now that yes painting the slop sink worked. I am sure it is not going to stay like this for long but if it matters to you to start fresh with a clean sink then this is the way to go.
One of the photos was of a laundry room and it included a duo toned laundry tub. Use epoxy paint or ep acrylic paints. The sink paint takes 15 minutes to dry to the touch but will take 3 days to fully cure. These paints should stick to most hard plastics and should be effective for fiberglass composite polypropylene and acrylic.
